King Phillip's Family Campground

Campground is located on the famous 1755 Colonial Battlefield where the Bloody Pond Massacre took place.  King Phillip's is 1-1/2 miles from the Village of Lake George and very close to the Warren County bike path which heads north into Lake George or south to Glenns Falls (10 miles).

170 sites, all with water; 130 sites have electricity.  General store, laundromat, playground, swimming pool, game room.

I was very pleased with the proximity of this campground to a number of attractions in the area, yet it was quiet, a number of the sites very shady (which made it nice leaving my Westie for the day).  Magic Forest is within walking distance of the campground (discount available) and the Wild West Family Fun Ranch (free admission to grounds) rodeo twice a day (a.m. and p.m.), wagon rides, restaurant.

This campground would be the closest to Lake George itself.

Lake George RV Park

I camped here in 1999 prior to a League of American Bicyclists Rally held in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Fortunately, it was mid June and at their "off peak" rates.  Since it is a camping "resort," they do charge accordingly.  They do have a number of amenities, however, which makes it worthwhile:  the Village of Lake George bus comes right into the campground so you don't have to drive into town; movies are shown and plays are given periodically; most of the sites are pull through.  The last picture which shows a covered bridge (this leads to bike path access) also features a number of trailers which can be rented if you don't have your own camper and want to give camping a try.  Their store is one of the best stocked I've seen at a campground.

There are a number of other campgrounds in the area.
